My feeble excuse!

I saw a post or two about how not busy DVXuser has become and got to thinking about why I'm not as active lately. The answer is...I'm just plain busy with work. I'm currently working two jobs so I can get enough saved up for some lighting...I want to shoot with lights damn it! So if you disect that statement you're left with the root of it...I'm busy feeding my DVX addiction! It's sad (Pookie) to see all the Antomics, Pookies, PK Gillocks and the like not as active. I see the user count going way up, but the new members seem reluctant to post as prolifically as once was the case. The last part was a generalized statement based on quick observations garnered during my brief sporadic visits too the site. I also saw a post about how someone was now bored at work cos there were'nt as many new post to read....Maybe the world will become more productive as a result of this?...Just a thought:laugh:

I see what you mean. I've been around here since November last year or so, and I've got what's this, my 17th post.
I know that I was apprehensive to say anything though, because it seemed like such a tightly knit community.

they seem to accept my useless knowledge quite well :)

but ya, DVXuser has become ghost town as of late

I haven't been posting as much due to evil institutional jail testing.. known as finals :(

hmm, I have alot of work and also preparing for a feature and two docs but I still managed to find time to post a few notes and worthless comments here and there. Seriously guys, it takes like phucken seconds to post a comment. I don't know what the big deal is. No offense to you Mino or anyone. :)

I don't mind so much when the cafe is slow.

It makes me crazy though when I post a grab or sequence in the clips section and 300 people check it out, but only a dozen bother to share their thoughts.

I miss "the regulars", but there are some worthy newbs climbing onboard. They jsut wont get the full flavor of DVXuser without the entire line-up of characters. heh! I go into a sporadic hermit mode, where I just lurk without posting much. My thoughts and mind jsut turn inward, usually affecting great change in my life. So, that being said, I have a project coming up in the next couple weeks where I will be an additional camera onset, and also, hopefully will be working on an upcoming feature in some capacity. I have made a great case at my day job to allow me to work parttime, still make enough money to pay my bills and also keep all my benefits and am waiting for the word on that (all so I can have more time to devote to what I really love to do). And today, I got approval to move into a new apartment in a nicer section of town. YEAH!!!! I am getting out of the 'hood! Though I will miss the crackheads, cockfighters, pit bulls, gunfire, arsonists, and serial killers. I am trading it all in for an older, more settled community, where I know my upstairs neighbor from my day job, and my other neighbor is Salma Hayek's uncle.

But I always stop by here every morning with my cuppa joe before work and read you guys while I rub the sleep outta my eyes. My day would jsut be screwed up without this place. :)

My humble observations:

1. Since the forum software was updated, I've noticed myself using the "New Posts" link, whereas before I'd just pop into my favorite areas of interest. That way I would see a lot of threads that I don't notice now, cause i'm just focusing on "New Posts." Seems much harder to keep track of conversations for some reason. I dunno, does anyone else feel this way?

2. Characters like Mino, P.K., Disjecta, who really are the life of the party, aren't posting as much, leaving us quiet types to sit around nodding and smiling politely at each other. The vast majority of registered members are spectators.

3. There's a lot of tension in the air on the eve of what promises to be the indie filmmaker's wet-dream-come-true: The HVX. Perhaps people will mill around the rest of the site more often once the climax is over. So few will buy the camera, but so many are fixated on it.

Chris: I'm sure I speak for others when I say I enjoy so many clips and grabs, but until I offer up my own clips to the virtual chopping block, I will continue to refrain from commenting on the work of others. I intend to get more involved once I get some web hosting up and running.

thartley: congrats on getting out of the hood! not feeling safe in your home is so destructive to creativity, not to mention mental health. Sounds like you've got a lot of positive changes going on. :)
