My eyes are going bad.

Well the problem is I have a refractive error (is that the English word?) on my right eye. I think my left is -0.7 and my right -1, which means I also need to buy two types of contacts.
With the refractive error they told me the price on contacts would be almost double and on top of that I need two types of contacts, which is why I'm getting one day disposables to use every now and then when I need them, and glasses for everyday use.

If by "refractive error" you mean "astigmatism" then yeah, I have that also. My left eye is -.25 worse. BTW... I'm pretty sure refractive error = anything less then normal, good vision. Check and see if they mean astigmatism... if so... I'm telling you... get yourself a FREE sample of the Acuvue Oasys lenses. Your doctor will GIVE you a pair to try out... and yes, they are two week disposables. I had problems with contact lenses for my entire life until I switched to these a few years ago.

I was also told that I should consider "toric" (spelling?) lenses, or at least in my eye with astigmatism... sounds like the same thing you were told.

Get the FREE pair... do your own experiment... if you tell me the other kind is much better then I'll try those instead. For me at least, these were the answer.

I've been nearsighted for as long as I can remember. I've worn glasses for years and decided to try contacts a while back. I liked them a lot but they gave me terrible headaches every time I tried to read something in print (bad prescription perhaps) and I found myself unconsciously "re-adjusting" my glasses every time I wore the contacts.

I figured that it was too much of a pain to have to take them out every time I wanted to read a magazine or newspaper so at the end of the day I just decided to stick w/glasses.

Well the contacts arrived today, so I'm trying them out. Still haven't found a pair of glasses I like.

I was wrong about the prescription, it wasn't that bad. I've got -0.5 on my left and -0.75 on the right. Maybe I'll get the glasses and use the contacts for days when I really can't wear the glasses or something.

Well... so I got my first pair of glasses today.

Cost me about 100 bucks, and for that I also got a second pair of perscription sunglasses as well.
The sunglasses weren't ready yet, but will be any day.

For the past two years or so I've been griping about 3D in cinemas only to be wearing glasses all the time now. Great.

Anyway, it might take a while to get used to them, but at least I'm kind of happy with the way they look. That's something, I guess.

What frames did you get? Was it easy picking a frame?
How were the contacts?
I'm next up for the specs spectacular-ocular...

I just picked some frames that looked okay and weren't too expensive. At the moment I can't afford any extra stuff like anti-reflection or stuff like that so just simple and basic.

The contacts will come in handy when I'm shooting, but they're just a pain in the ass to put in and get out and not fall asleep in etc. It's just not something I want to keep track on every day.
Also, whether you get used to the feeling or not, they still feel like wearing long johns on the eye balls.
