My equipment wishlist and suggestions

My own company (A Mac with FCP and a cheapo miniDV cam sitting in a craped bedroom) Or Brancaleone Pictures, if you may, is going for a big buy.

First and foremost. DVX. No doubt about that. I think most of you would agree :)

Second. Good Tripod. Sachler DV2-II. I used one for film school once and would never go back to bogen... (Would someone think that a DV1 is a better deal for a dvx? I think ist so close to the limit, you know? I would love if you were having good experiences with the lighter and cheaper one, though...)

Necessary acessories: 2 DVXuser Batteries, Petrol bag and UV filter.

Then I get close to my limit. With still so much to buy.

I could go for a 3x3 mattebox and some filters (thinking cavision), and have a more complete cam rig.

I could start to get some sound gear, like an AT899 lav, cables and a good pair of headphones, like the Senn HD280 just in case I need to collect statements for some jobs.

I could buy a cheapo tripod just for starters (in the 100-200 range) and get a decent sound setup, with also a Me66, windshield, pistol grip, boom (A lot of cavision, also).

What could I leave for later? the tripod? All the mics? the matte Box? I'm really very much aggainst buying cheap things to be replaced. After all I'm not a video merchant, I really would like to buy all of those things only once. What do you suggest? is that list reasonable in model choices? Are those items compatible in quality and price range?

Thanks for the help. This is one of the problems I wish I had more often... hehehe

Thanks, Elvis!

That's what I thought... in fact, I also love the DV2.

Re: My equipment wishlist and suggestions

in my personal view, you should try and buy your equipment in the following order:

- camera (of course)
- tripod (you can get through with some lensflare sometimes
but not with wobbly pictures)
- audio gear
- mattebox

for the start, you could go with some screw-in filters which are not that expensive (compared to 3x3 or 4x4)
