My DP Reel

This is all school projects and I'm not entirely set on the music for it yet. I also haven't had a chance to put in some shots from the feature I co-DP'ed in the spring (we're still in post production).

Comments and criticism appreciated.

It's too long, too slow. Give us just your best and most unique work. I agree, that music doesn't work. Show us how you can light, and how you can shoot. Scenic shots, or unlit shots don't really demonstrate much, in my opinion. You did use some shots from scenes, that's good to demonstrate you can shoot for coverage and have it edit. Try to give us an idea what's going on in the film. Right now I just see people, and can't really get feel for what's going on.

Sorry to be so direct. You can shoot, no doubt, but your reel should make me want to grab my phone and call you. Right now I'm scrubbing forward to see if there's anything else.

Pick some faster music, and whiddle it down. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.

Most of my school stuff was done with minimal lights because I couldn't afford it (and our film department focuses on theory, so the production side gets shafted on budgets) and for that reason I had to shoot outdoors often. For the feature I had access to better lighting so that should improve that aspect when I can get the final footage in the reel. I'll look at ways to speed it up.

I personally like the music, it has good potential to build a climax but you need to edit the content in a more engaging way and build that wow.

Just my honest opinion :)
