That follow focus is brilliant! I cant believe i haven't seen a million of those already its so simple! I feel like this weekend im going to hit local thrift stores and look for an old rod if possible

What's it made of, are those parts that you can find in a home depot store?

wanting to tackle the follow focus before this coming friday... what are the parts I need...looks like a fishing reel...and where did you get the gear...what type is it?
 
I saw your follow focus written up over at www.cheesycam.com

The article includes a link to ebay auctions for fishing reels similar to the style you used for $0.99 with free shipping. Combine this with a vacuum cleaner belt or something similar and your in business man.

Yet again, very cool designs but i would like to figure a way to use the follow focus with the monitor mounted. Maybe I will use flexible arm or something like that.
 
This is the first time I've seen a follow focus controlled by a fishing reel. Are you able to put a marking plate behind it?
