my "deck"

I normally use my DVX100A only for filming things, and i use a smaller, cheaper miniDV camera to capture everything so that I'm not putting hours and hours on to my dvx. Could using this camera to capture have an impact on the quality of the image, the colors, the fps, any of that stuff?

I also heard something about about oils in the miniDV tape and how switching tapes between cameras can mess with them or something like that, any truth to this?

Re: my "deck"

make a search, there are many post on what to you as deck. For sure, don't use you dvx as a deck because it damage your heads. For the tapes, you can also make a search on it, there are plenty of post on it but yes it's true. SHould never mix wet tapes and dry tapes in your dvx. The best thing to do is to find a tape and stick with it. I suggest you the MQ from Panny. I think this is what most people here use. (like me)

Yes I know that you won't get a better image quality from the dsr-45 than with the dsr-11 but there is something like 2000$ of difference between both.

Re: my "deck"

I've been using the panasonic PQ tapes.... should i switch to the MQs? should i get the heads cleaned before the switch?

i often get tapes that are mixed sort of that end up in my little "deck" since i work with people who use vx2100s, is mixing those tapes in my crappy camcorder going to cause problems when i put my panasonic tapes back in my dvx? will it cause a lot of problems on the "deck"?
