My Dad's in Texas

Yeah. My family lives in Seattle (my wife and I are in Utah) but my dad's work takes him all over the country. I got an email today from my mom that said, "Good news! Your dad comes home early from Texas because of hurricane Rita." Here's the issue: I had no idea he was there until that email! Last night my wife and I were listening to the news about how "Rita is bigger then Katrina..." and thought, "Man, I'm glad we're not there, or have family that's there."

This hurricane situation was so horrible to me, but now I have a different perspective on the whole thing. Not necessarily different, but intensified. I wish all those in the wake of Katrina and the path of Rita the best of luck and all our prayers.

Glad to hear your dad is out of harm's way. I am not fully recovered from all the news coverage about Katrina. I have to take breaks from tv news every now and then, so I dont really know too much about Rita, but I hope people get evacuated early enough. I did hear on the radio coming home today that the acting director of FEMA is telling everyone who has kids to identify them in some way, either with a wrist band of something, so if things go badly and they are separated, it will be an eaiser process to identify who they belong to.

And that made my heart hurt, in so many ways.

:(

Born and raised in Houston. Got my brothers and all my neices and nephews there. They tried leaving but didn't get far.

Glad your Dad got out. All we can do now is sit, wait, and hope everything will be ok. :(

Damn....its kinda weird..its like someone or something is trying to send a message to the citizens or government of the U.S. about something.

I mean really...two biiiiig hurricanes one after another? It seems a little coincidendental to me...I read in the newspaper today in Journalism class that the US is having trouble sending national guard troops to go helpin people out in the Katrina incident..and having them also go evacuate almost half the state of Texas, because of lack of troops.

I feel really sorry for all the people that live near the Gulf coast...its gonna be hell after all this is finished with. Hopefully we wont have another catastrophe like Katrina.

btw...i also read that gas prices are gonna shoot up to an estimate of 5-6 dollars a barrel..and some states..10 dollars...because of the obvious reason that a lot of our oil comes from Texas...and their refinaries are going to be out of order...I kinda have a paranoia that this country is gonna go into a big pile of s*** economicly after the hurricanes and war is over.

Watching the news this morning and all of the folks who gave up and just went home....... Scary. I feel scared for those people.

Blackhawk, that is exactly what it is. God works in mysterious ways, America has already driven into the brick, and American's don't even know it.

Thank god your dads out, hope no one has family there because I don't think people deserve to die, and hopefully people look at this the good way, a sign from god that he's watching us.
