My camera Checklist before shooting with a Letus.

To avoid any problemns, I use the following checklist prior to filming a movie scene. I would like to get everybody to help improve the checklist.

CHECKLIST:

(1) Set Camera zoom to T-74.

(2) Check gain to NO GAIN.

(3) Check auto focus off

(4) Turn off the adapter, point the camera at the sky and stop the Nikkor SLR lens down to f11 or f16 and the grain will become obvious. Focus on that, return the f-stop to below f4 and turn on the adapter.

(6) Check Nikkor SLR lens f-stop is down to minimum.

(7) Check audio setting to EXTERNAL and MANUAL and volume to 5.

(7) Check audio setting to EXTERNAL and MANUAL and volume to 5.

You should be checking sound levels as you go. Setting to 5 will work OK in some circumstances and horribly in others - depending on your set up, where youre shooting and a number of other factors.

Do an audio test, and then watch those levels as you record.

The gain button is a read threat. I once filmed an entire days just to realize the gain had been left on! The horror! The horror!

Another nono is to film without pressing record. After checking the LETUS, after checking the Iris, after checking the gain, the T stop, the volume, and the focus you can easily forget to press record. How often do I ask myself whether I actually recorded the scene. That's why I now have a camera assistant; not to do anything... just to ckeck everything.

I just always check everything :)

Honestly though, I always tilt the adapter back and forth. I've had so many loose parts in the adapters I've used that I just try and catch it well before it becomes a big problem. It's always unnerving to do an entire shoot with this clanking sound everytime I tilt up and down.
