As I write this I am looking at my brand new DVX100a.

My first.

And now the challenge comes in trying to figure out how to best exploit its amazing capabilities.

Man I love this thing.

Thanks to all you guys who helped me out and answered my posts. I know in the upcoming days trying to use the camera, I'll need you more than ever.

Couldn't agree more. If you didn't receive a copy of Barry's book, get ahold of one.

it's finally here.

I love it.

ALso I've got Barry's book on order to make sure I know what to do with this powerful machine.

Now that I have one I hope the HVX200 doesn't make it "yesterday"

Don't worry, the DVX will not be "yesterday" until the majority of the average consumers have HDTV and some way of playing back an HD source, ie Blue-ray or HD-DVD. - My guess, at least 3-5 years away.

I got if for $4,000 (cad) - or around 3,220 (usd), including...

shipping (always a good thing)
extra battery (I'm learning just how useful this great access. is)
cheap tripod (I don't even think it can hold the dvx)
alum case (nice build quality - surprised me)
3 different lenses, polar, uv, etc.
cleaning kit
5 mini dv tapes (not pana master so I don't think I'll ever use them)

and I think that's it. I got it from priceritephoto.com
