My AVCHD clips look terrible in Premiere Pro CS5!!!

Just got Premiere Pro CS5. When I import the AVCHD footage from my GH1 into the AVCHD 24 1080i timeleine and play them back, they look terrible. There are all kinds of little artifacts. I know I'm doing wrong because Adobe says you can edit AVCHD natively. My GH1 clips are in a 1080 24/60i format. What steps do I have to take so they look like they do when I play them in the camera, on the Premiere timeline? Please be specific. Thanks.

right click on the clip in ur bin and go to interpret footage and set it to remove the pulldown. Make sure your playback settings are also at max, or high. if you are defaulted to half or a quarter it's gonna look like garbage.

I have $5 that says it's your resolution settings. Above and in the right hand corner of the playback and preview monitors (they're independent of each other) is a little drop down menu. Click it, and 2/3 the way down you should see 'Playback Resolution'. Hold you curser over it, and you should see 'Full', '1/2', and '1/4'. Chances are, '1/2' is selected.

Premiere does this to help speed up playback. It has ZERO effect on the actual footage, or the final product. It only affects what you see in the monitors. If you don't like it, select 'Full', but you may take a hit in performance depending on your system.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, I am using my hacked GH13 and I am shooting in 24/60i, not native 24p. But, when I go to "Interpret Footage", the "Remove 24p Pulldown" box is grayed out and I can't put a checkmark in the box no matter what else I click on in the "Interpret Footage" box. How do I remove the pulldown if I can't even checkmark that box? Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Also, should I be editing in the AVCHD 1080 24p timeline or the AVCHD 1080 60i timeleine since I shot my footage with the 24/60i wrapper?

When you drag the footage into the New Item icon Premiere looks at the footage and makes a sequence accordingly to it, just like in AE. Try it.
