Output and compression are really just the bane of my existence these days. In my continuing battle on learning how to do so properly, can anyone tell me if there is a way using compressor to export a video from fcp and get it under 500mb without loosing too much quality?

The video is 10 minutes and 30 secs long. I shot it in 30p, 1/24 shutter speed on the DVX 100B. Let me know if there is any other information needed to solve this problem.

Oh and the 500mb limit is for getting it on vimeo, if that helps.

Simple - File size is all about data rate (kbps). Try a data rate of 5000-6000 kbps for the video and 128kbps for the audio.

The first tab on the inspector window of compressor *usually* gives you an estimated total file size. You can use that figure to fine tune your data rate before actually compressing.

This is almost hard to not do if you're using H.264. Granted, Apple's implementation of H.264 is pretty lousy, and your footage may be extremely complex, but as SD resolutions, this should be a joke to accomplish. If you want to stay safe with the bitrate excess, try something closer to 2500k. In all honesty, try to use x264 if you can via HandBrake.
