MXF clips...do they use overlay???

Hi,

I use to edit everything using the Cineform codec...and there was an option to enable video overlay as playback setting. What this did was enable me to actually play full screen video of the footage on the timeline on a second monitor (using the settings on Nvidia and ATI cards) Since Premiere 3.1 started supporting native MXF files, I no longer use Cineform but now it appears that I have lost the ability to automatically playback my footage in full screen. It appears that the settings in premier using MXF files no longer support video overlay. Is anyone able to play MXF files full screen on a second monitor while scrubbing or playing from the timeline?

Thanks

M

P.S: I am not talking about dragging teh output monitor to the second screen...

I have a full screen HD output to CPU monitors or external HD monitors from my Matrox Parhelia card, but if you dont want to do it that way, what you need to do is as follows.

create a new project using the DVCPRO HD template you would normally use, but when you are setting up the new project before you create it, switch the editing mode from DVCPRO HD to desktop. everything else will stay the same(unless you want to tweak any other settings..such as 24p playback to repeat frame instead of interlaced frame, and turning on maximum bit depth for color processing), and of course you can still import .MXFs just like you can into any other project regardless of editing mode. This will unlock your video playback settings so you can fullscreen your monitor window to a second monitor or attached video device again. Im not sure why it locks out the option while in the preset DVCPRO HD mode.

any older project that you want to bring over, you can just copy and paste all your files ect. in the project bin of the old project into the new projects project bin. then just double click the sequence in the new project and viola! you have your old project with the new editing settings.
