muzzle flash tests...

I guess that's what they mean by convergence? Cellphone/PDA/Mp3 player/Pistol -- all in the new Treo 800!
The ratio of room flash to "spot" muzzle flash looks off to me, and it's flashing behind you where there should be a shadow. I think there should be just as much flash at the muzzle, but tone down the flash effect on the rest of the room. Unless a room is quite dark, muzzle flash from a pistol isn't particularly noticeable, so you may want the room darker as well.

looks good to me man. honestly, most ppl have no clue what a real muzzle flash looks like and it big budget films the "real" flash is enhanced anyway from how live munitions work in the field...there's prolly a couple things you could do to help convince FBI specialists that it's authentic, but if you're doing these fx for a film, i think it's solid. nice color correction too!

What am I doing wrong I go to link but I can't down load or see file?

lol. i had same issue. you have to copy that text that you see and the button right underneath it. then watch some ads for 30 secs or something...:Drogar-Kriz(DBG):

That's one HECK of a ring tone!!

Muzzle flash depends on the ammunition used (the type of propellant and amount), the length of the barrel, muzzle design and ambient light.

Muzzle flashes can be as realistic or fanciful as artistic merit requires. Even the sound of a weapon going off is usually wrong. In small rooms they sound remarkably dead. And some are beyond loud -- heart-stopping loud.

No prob man... you scroll halfway down the page and there will be a little box of 3 numbers... just type in the 3 numbers and click the submit button. Wait 30 seconds and the countdown box will turn into a download button :)

Here's a post with a couple frames of 24PA DVX footage. In all cases, real muzzle flashes lasted only 1 frame.

The whole thrad over there is pretty entertaining.

And dispite how flashes actually happen, I accept that we are making films, not reality. I find reality is an okay starting point to expand from.
