Looking to find some new and interesting bands to listen to. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm particularily interested in finding some cool no-name bands. I feel there is a lot of talent out there - finding it is just hard. I'm not interested in metal core type stuff nor am I particularily interested in super pop oriented stuff. Somewhere in between (to varying degrees dependent upon my mood) is generally what I look for.

i know indie bands...

Shaw,

I know this is a total shameless plug but hey what the hell: there are some killer no name bands all over the Hunting Camp soundtrack!

I have links to the bands that have websites, just go here, and click "soundtrack".

The bands range from heavy metal to rock to industrial to trippoprock. And more than half of the tunes on the CD aren't available anywhere else...let em know what you think if you check out their stuff, they are all working hard, trying to make it just like us!

An awsome band that I saw in a video is called "Slackstring". They are sort of a So Cal surf band, pretty good tunes. I also suggest going to www.purevolume.com . Another good place if you're looking to support independant artists by buying their EP's and other stuff is www.cdbaby.com . They have audio samples on their site that you can listen to. In fact, I found alot of the music that I am going to be using for a production off of those two websites.

cold play is definitely not no name. a few years ago, yes. now they are as mainstream as can be. Shaw is looking for good unknown independent bands, right?

I assume so. There are deffinetly alot of them out there. You gotta think of the ratio of Huge name bands to small ones, and I am sure its really big. It seems to me that alot of the indie bands out there have a better feel to their music, and it doesn't seem so influenced by pop-culture. Also, if you're using music in your productions, indie bands are the way to go, because they see the benefits of having basically free promotion for their music. If you tell them what your project is, and who will see it, they are usually more than ready to help you out. I am going this route right now, and although it can take some time to find the right group, once you do it's alot better than paying thousands for some lame song you see on MTV.

Great! Thanks guys! I'll check all of these links out.

Definitely looking for independent artists. I've know a few great local artists and I'm sure there is some great music being made out there that doesn't hit mainstream (yet).

As for Coldplay... I quite enjoy a few of their songs but I'm not attracted to the majority of their stuff.

another 3 words " The Hidden Hand" maryland guitar legend Wino just killing it with this new band.

On the soul side of things Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings taking it back to early 70s hard funk/soul.
