I am looking for a program that will allow me to output to video a similar type of picture as iTunes Visualizer that syncs to the music.

But I want to be able to control the colors and patterns if possible.

Ideas? I know I can set up my camera in front of my cinema display, but for fear of Steve Jobs sending the goon squad after me, I won't.
 
Have you checked out Jitter? It's a part of Cycling '74s MAX/MSP suite - which is a sorta visual programming package for music applications, where Jitter is a video extension. If you want a lot of power to design visuals, that's a cool way to go!
