Music Video

Any direct links to something we can listen to?

Oh, to answer your question, yes there is one.
One of the last great blues men still alive...

What's his name? If Charles Mingus or Miles Davis was still alive I would shot a music video for them too.

Thanks man. Caught the first one. Didn't feel the video represented the music. But hey, just my take on it. It really felt distant to me and more like just images for the sake of images without getting to the soul of the music.

But hey man, good band and I see your point. Yeah, that be a good band to do one for for sure.

Oh, the picture is Dr. John. Goes way back to the roots of rock and roll. Used to play the clubs in New Orleans with Fats Domino when he was a kid. Last of the greats.

right on bro. what track of his would you do a music video? concepts/themes? film or hd

//First I do:

I'd lean more towards a documentary. Basically get more history before it's gone.
The stories the man has is priceless and should be documented as much as possible before he passes. The music is already there. The history though, that's the story.

//Then, if I could, I'd have to pick one song out that best defines his personality and try and express it in some way visually that reflects that soul I guess.

If I had to pick one to do, I'm saying, I'd go about it that way, in the ideal world. :)
lol, hope that's not too corny. But I'd do it in a sec.

A bit of a rant...

I didn't get the second song because of the language barrier so it's hard
to comment on the video. I did notice something and not sure how to say it
so I'll just go ahead and hope it makes sense a bit.

Here in Canada where I am we have a Punjab music program on Sundays.
It took me around a year to wrap my head around the music.
I can see the west hiphop (cough, rap maybe) and pop influencing those artists in the dance
moves. Not sure about the musical influences at this point.

In the second video you posted and in those from outside North America, I'm
seeing a style of shooting that's different.

Maybe we're focused more on showing bits of bodies here and there, or the
sexual side of it. Sexploiltation if you will. And for the males in country
music it's a 'I'm a man dammit'. Macho is the word.

In the foreign ( to me I mean) videos, I'm not seeing that, partly due to
politics. But that caught my immediate attention and thought I'd make
mention of it.
Although, in the PunJab videos, they do toe the line, but it seems to be
focused on the eye contact and body dancing/flirting body language, not the
body itself like it is here.

Whew.

Would like to work with Ozzy again at first chance. Always a memory waiting to happen...even if he doesn't remember it.
lol
Rather than dive back into music videos, I'd like to go on the road with bands and make lil road diary docs.
I began this concept with STYX about 8 years ago but I just handed em miniDV cameras to let em shoot it themselves, home-move style.
Recently I went on the road with Beatle Bob, though and would love to do this with prominant bands as a series.
While there felt like a glam in music videos, I like the creative freedoms that come with producing documentaries.
