Music Video using Google Maps

That was pretty awesome. It could have been slightly better if the pictures of my house matched the lighting of the filmed elements, or if I weren't already very familiar with what my area looks like on google maps.

Available with Google Chrome only so it's not available in my browser.
And I'm not switching browsers just to watch this video. They can make it cross browser compatible if they want people to watch it. Otherwise it's bad programming practices, unless it's sponsored by Google Chrome in an effort to get you to switch browsers, in which case, I'd say naught.

Besides, isn't making a video using google maps a copyright violation? Unless, oh, it was sponsored by google, for google chrome. Oh.

Never mind.

it is "sponsored" by google, and it is to showcase the capabilities of html 5 from their side of things... chrome supports html5...

Well I'm glad for chrome supporting HTML5. It seems no one else is at the moment.
And that's understandable because HTML5 is apparently open source so Apple will lose money on Flash if it loses ground.

But to hand over my browser to a Google coded browser , coded by them, which would never ofcourse invade on my privacy, would be a bit like, I don't know, feel like I'm installing a web cam and audio in every room in my house and giving a live feed directly to the police station, only the police aren't really police, they are 'what-ever-we-want-to-do' kind of police.

And if anyone thinks I'm paranoid, did you know Google has operated programs to tap into your built in microphone and listen to your enviroment, without your knowledge. All in an effort to 'help you' have a better online experience. They claim that information is used to help identify your current behaviour and thus direct appropriate advertising to you.
All for the good of us ofcourse.

But maybe they've reconsidered since then? Sure they have, like Google Earth accidentally recording wifi locations and thier data. Sure, that was an accident.

And ofcourse they never store data, like all of the images I've deleted from dvxuser posts but still appear in a google search. Nope, they're a cool company man. Meh.

So, my point is, a browser programmed by google? To monitor every action I do online?
I don't think so. And what's that I hear? They aren't doing that? Puh, yeah not until they get a foothold on you.

-Rant over. Google Chrome supporting HTML 5. What great guys. Yeah, that's a good one.

trying to hold onto our privacy in the internet age is, I fear, a losing battle in the long run... But, I hear you...

and, that's also another topic :)

wow

so refreshing to come across a piece of creativity like this the just cuts loose from the everyday cliche

inspiring and made me feel young

thanks luis !

This is pretty friggin amazing. I think there are any number of technological ways they could have done this, but the idea is really, really fantastic. It's like I've been saying for a long time: opportunities are there for indies to stop thinking about how to just make films and start thinking about how to tell stories with new technology. Now is a wild west time. Reminds me of dot-com days...
