Music Video in the forrest

I'm about to shoot a music video where the end sequence is the band playing in the middle of some forrest.

Problem is that its very sunny where is live (flagstaff Az) so you get alot of sunshine though the trees and lots of shade which looks awful though the camera.

I was thinking of getting two 2k's and a few 1k or 500w to fill.

And i was going to the a polarizing filter too.

Any suggestions?

Shoot early morning and late afternoon where the sun is lower on the horizon. Avoid high noon like the plague unless you can use a butterfly (diffusion) the size of a tent.

Use your lights for the close ups (Bouncing the fill).

You're going to need more light than that to make a difference, largely because you'll have to gel them to match sunlight (with ctb, which kills a lot of light). A 2.5k hmi will give you more fill, and be the right colour-temp, but you'll still likely find you have to position it closer than you'd like. To fill-flood an idea, go with a bigger HMI still. Another option is a huge bounce board, which can be as simple as a massive white sheet. A tiffen ultra-con can help too.
