Music Video: How would you light this?

Liam, will you be moaning at yourself? From the "Safe Working Practices" thread, "Avoid use of hazers" - http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?367283-Safe-Working-Practices

I'm only joking but am interested to hear if there's any resistance/workarounds on your shoot.

No, it's actually worse than that; my wife qualified as a COVID Safety Officer (CodOff, as I call her) and has been coming out on a few shoots lately. The clients love having a dedicated COVID Officer makes them feel safe. I'm not so sure though!

And yes, I have had push back from the band, the mitigation will be to mostly shoot each band member on their own or with as few people on the edge of shot as is possible.

At least as far as LA sets, it's all about COVID Theater, no different than the TSA is security theater. Unless you have quick turnaround on-sight testing with results in an hour or less, than having a COVID Officer is exactly what you say, it makes them FEEL safe.
I get that people want to feel safe on set and I have no problem with a person there being assigned to enforce best practices for minimize exposure and point out things people are doing that are causing more exposure risk, but the reality is, in today's society,
this is what people do, they go through a lot of rituals to assure them that everything is okay. We still don't even know what caused COVID, where exactly it came from, the exact transmission modalities (although they know about droplet, particles, what are
most likely to transmit). Working on a set is a risk but so is going to Costco.

It's just too bad that this Pandemic has caused the meltdown of society and the economy and much of the meltdown is unnecessary.

You beat me to it. Did a few days of reality last month. The production company was from LA/CA and yes, they had a COVID Officer. You filled out a brief questionnaire each day on-line on your cell phone, then showed the passing mark(literally a big green check mark with the date and time) to the CVO who then took your temp with a forehead scanner and checked you off if you were within range. They had bags of masks, gloves(?) and hand sanitizer. I had my own nice mask, I’m not operating in gloves and I did take one of the bottles of hand sanitizer ; )

One of my friends has actually had to be tested for some shoots recently. And to my understanding, these aren’t facilitated or arranged by the production, you have to get it on your own. I think he said you can bill back the cost of the test, but I don’t know if he said anything about them reimbursing you for your time.

Just finished a week of "pre-prep" for upcoming HBO series that we were about to start shooting just before lockdown. Not going to go into a full listing of the proposed procedures but they go substantially deeper than what is mentioned above. Anyone in "zone A" (actors and those who need to interface with them or the central part of the set) will be tested daily, Zone B will be tested three times a week.

Envious that you are going back to work Charles, happy for you.

That's the thing, insurance companies, completion bond companies, corporations are all trying to CYA with all of this stuff and it's really not even understood about how, when asymptomatic carriers can infect others, the incubation period before presenting into the full blown affliction.
It's conceiveable that someone is carrying the virus, exhibits no symptoms, jumps through all of these hoops and still infects a bunch of people on set and the carrier never even gets it or just gets a mild case. I went to the dentist the other day for a routine cleaning/exam, same thing questionaire, sit in your car, we'll come out and get you,
take temp coming into lobby, etc. We do seem to be living in the era of COVID theater.

I'm pretty convinced that 85% of COVID response (non medically) in society is just making lawyers rich. Everything associated with it reeks of risk assessment lawyer style and making sure that all entities are as covered legally with disclaimers as humanly possible.
The political inconsistencies with who is allowed to do what, when, how and where though have been flabbergasting though. Human behavior becomes more and more irrational as society is forced to confront something like this Pandemic. it sometimes feels as if
the whole world has lost their collective minds about what this is, how to most practically handle it and how to deal with it without melting down the world economy.

FWIW I didnt enjoy having my forehead temperature checked before shooting yesterday, but it made me feel good to know that everyone else had too. Will it catch asymptomatic carriers? No. But at least no one with a sky-high fever was coughing around the premises.

It's sort of like how I thank every cop who tickets me. I'm not happy to get a ticket (which is rare BTW) but I'm glad they're out there policing all the other yahoos

It's SOOO CYA, now. And the bigger the company, the worse it is. I can actually see some of these really big entities doing away with using freelancers completely. One for monetary reasons, but also for liability reasons. We used to be the disposable lab rats that got sent to the "dangerous" places. Now it's the staffers.

A few months ago, I did a shoot for one of my network clients, and even though I was the first camera back in the field for them after they locked it down and had been shooting for them "safely" for a few weeks, for this particular shoot, since it involved us covering a protest with an estimated several thousand people, it went up to the tip-top of the legal department and there was still apparently a lot of hand wringing, before it was finally approved for us to cover it.

What was so objectionable? Would you rather have had them stick it in your mouth or...? Having a no-contact thermometer pointed at my forehead is the LEAST intrusive and hampering thing associated with working under CV "protocols".

I'm just being a whiner. I do not enjoy being rendered passive. Like going to the doctor. It provokes a feeling of vulnerability. It's not that big a deal

But my bigger point was that the theater made me feel more secure
