We have a project to at school. We need to film a music video this week and next week. We need to find a song and re-create the music video using school equipment and school property.
So, we chose this because we have a lot of items which work for this music video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBdaGGNPOeo
We found a room in the basement which we are using as our main location for the Singer & DJ. We need to transform the room so it looks somewhat like in the music video. Ex. - 0:42. We need the room to be dark but yet have the people visible.
We only have 4 lights. 3 small lights in the BG and one work light (No professional lighting) The problem is, there are a lot of items along the walls which we cannot move out of the shot. (They are large, heavy, no room to move, etc.) So, we need to keep it in. So, we need to make the BG dark so you can't see what is back there. I was planning on crushing the blacks in post to help.
We can set the lights up with 3 behind/beside the actors and one in front. Should we stick with this set up or should we completely cover the items with a large white cloth. It would look nicer, but the problem I see is, its white. It'll be hard to make the BG and the whole room dark.
I really got no idea how I could pull this off. Any ideas/tips?How do I get the room to be dark while the actor stay lit?
* I attached a small layout of the room. LOL.. paint.
