Ok, sunday september 17th we got to shoot a music video at the Casbah (a music club here in San Diego). The band is called Goodbye Tomorrow (or GBT for short) and my job was to direct this thang. We've still got one more shoot left with the lead actress/model chick. I don't have any footage yet, but I do have some pics!

This is Jill, our model - before Christina was done styling

This is outside the Casbah, and it was the hardest shot of the day. we had many distractions during this shot including a bum walking through it, and some Ashlee Simpson fans taking pictures with Jill and asking for autographs...apparently they thought she was Ms. Simpson.

Wow looks really interesting! Did you have a lighting set up that you didnt show in the pics, btw? Or was it all ambient lighting?

it was all stage lighting and there a few of those home depot heat lamps.
we had to take all gels off the stage lights and reposition them, but they worked out great. I had to comission our hair and makeup girls to hold some of the heat lamps, but they were more than willing.

I can't wait to see some grabs... Love the shots with the DVX in the shot! Nice... I so badly want to do a music video.

Awesome stuff. I really like the first picture with the DVX in it, because you get a lot out of it. You see the band members, you see how the shot looks through the DVX, and you get the guy shooting it and I'm guessing its you thats standing next to him.

i'm the one with the green hat on. for that particular scene I had my DA direct the scene since it was a shot that he had in mind.

Wow, it's really weird that you would post this right now. I'll be shooting a music video in a few months, and require the use of a club.

I was just wondering to myself how to go about that. Did you just call them up or what?

I got kinda lucky on this one TC. The band's manager happens to know the club owner. If we didn't have the hook up, we still could have rented the place for the day (for like $300).

Most clubs have a website with a phone number on there for booking purposes.

myspace is the best place to get bands for music videos. Search for bands in your area and ask them if they are looking for a video. Just make sure you have some stuff to show them
