I did a search for this and I got a couple of tips, but maybe I can get more.

Can anybody link me to a site where bands/artist/ect. let you use their music for free, I'm looking to score my 8 minute short. Music is so important in the film making process, I wanna make sure I have the right music for my movie.

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well, I don't know of any ONE site for this. There are alot of ways to get music for your movies. One way I have found is cruising a site such as www.purevolume.com or www.epitonic.com and just looking for what sounds good. Most bands on there are indie bands, and are happy to let you use their stuff to get some exposure. You probably already found this advice in your search, but it is a good solution. Suprisingly, I have also found some decent bands on myspace too....also try www.cdbaby.com You can browse by genre there, and ALL of the bands they sell are indie labels.

GenjerDan,

Thank you - that magnature site is exactly what I'm looking for. BTW, Joe vs the Volcano is one cool movie :-)

One of the nice things about marrying a much younger and foreign woman...she hasn't SEEN a whole lot of the films I like.

So...the past few weeks it has been Die Hard I & II (Christmas films, after all), Groundhog Day, Airplane! (which she hated...I guess that one needs a background), Joe vs The Volcano, the Home Alones, Heathers, The Egg And I, Mr Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse, and a whole slew of others...

I love it.
