Music Legalities

Ok, so I lined up an awesome composer for my film and she's going to do it free.

However, I want her to retain the rights to her music, but I want to be able to show the film at festivals and other non-profit type events without havint to worry about her being paid.

However, I'm a fair man, and if the movie gets a distribution deal I want her to get some money from the profits the film makes.

I haven't been able to find a contract that fits this online for us to sign. Any links? Ideas?

If I was doing it for free for you then I'd say something like this...

All rights and copyrights of this soundtrack beyond the edited film, trailer, not to include extra or bonus material on DVD or derivatives of the film are the sole property of the composer. Rights to publish anything, sheet music, marching band arrangements, soundtrack CDs, flexible keychains that go beep beep beep to my music, all rest with the composer.

etc.

That would be the RIGHTS portion...

As for making money from you... I've got no idea. At that point it's more than a rights issue... it's a contract issue. How much of the profits or a single lump sum after 400 theaters a day? your call.
