This has probably been covered, but what would the final word be on using copywrighted music for a demo reel. like, say, the Beck track I have in back of mine at the moment?

any time you use the word COPYRIGHT = NO , not without permission ...
many use copyright music on sample reels - i haven't heard of any cases on demo reels passed around - however i have heard of persons receiving cease and desist letters about the music when they have their reel/sample posted on web sites ...
