I'm trying to have seven different interview clips in one frame and then have one interview scale into the centre full frame do its thing and scale back to its position in the grid as someone else in the grid scales forward to fill the frame to say their bit and then scale back out to their place in the seven shot grid.
I tried doing this by putting each of seven shots on different video tracks then making freeze frames of the first and last frames of the interviews and then extending them front and back of the shot respectively to stretch the whole sequence.
Then I went in and scaled everything with keyframes so that it looked like a clip would expand from the grid of shots to fill the frame and then recede back when the subject was done talking as the next subject scaled up.
When one shot was full frame I would take the others down to 0 opacity and then as the full frame shot scaled back into the smaller grid I brought the other shots in the grid back up in opacity so that it would feel like it was fitting back into place as the nex shot scaled up.
When I put the playhead over the said places it seemed like it worked fine with all the shots in the grid in place but when I rendered it not all the shots showed up in the grid when I wanted them so when a shot scaled back down then the other shots weren't there.
Why? Is this because I was using freeze frames to extend the individual shots to fit under the others? Would it work better if I took actual still frames and then reimported them back into fcp and worked with them that way.
Is their any easier way to achieve this?
Thanks.
