Multiple formats and frame rates on p2 (hpx-500)

Hello,

I'm running into a problem with the playback of footage I shot today with a Hpx-500.

I'm running FCP6 and using the log and transfer.

Most projects I have shot with the camera has been cine style drama. Usually we set the camera at 720pn because our projects call for over cranking (60fps)

Typically I have no trouble playing back the slow motion footage in a 24p timeline.

Here is my problem:

Today I shot footage and was experimenting all over the place. I shot 1080 60i, 1080 24p, and then went to 720 24p and then to 720 60fps.

I logged and captured as usual. When I opened any of the overcranked footage it plays back at regular rate (not slow). I have tried every sequence setting, easysetup, custom setup, new project, etc I can think of to try to see my slow motion footage.

When I first went to the playback in the field (playback on the flip out screen) I saw the slow motion on a first test. I then shot another 1080 shot, then when I shot more 720 60fps footage I could never get it to play back smooth again (i tried all recording formats and scene file changes I could think of).

So here I am will all my footage in a FCP Bin but no slow motion playback.

Do you have to import different frame rate and different resolution files into seperate projects?

Does the Apple pro rez codec take care of this for you?

What would my workflow for setting up a fcp6 project to accept multiple resolution/frame rate footage from a p2 transfer?

In the field, how can you ensure playback of 60fps footage?

Thanks in advance for your advice. I love this camera.

Sincerely,
Thomas

Sounds like you shot 720/24p instead of 720/24pN. FCP has an option to strip out duplicate frames upon import, so you might have to re-import those files or you might have to run them through Cinema Tools to strip out the duplicate-frame pulldown.
