Multiple Computers for Rendering Speed Boost...

Is there a limit to how many computers I can link together for a rendering boost?

Do they connect via network cables or another kind of cable?

Can I connect a Powerbook G4 and utilize its processing power to help my PC render with Vegas?

Do all the machines helping with the rendering have to have Vegas installed on them?

Thank you so much.

You can connect (I believe) up to 3 computers. They each must have either Vegas or the Vegas render node installed, so no, you can't use a G4.

Go into Help and look up "network render."

Is the render node something that came with my Vegas that I can install on the other comps, or would they have to purchase it?

Something else to keep in mind is that the network render is really effective with small amounts of footage that are heavily edited or composited (i.e. chroma keying, color correction, many layers etc.)... The bottleneck I have found is my network... I do some HD stuff so larger file sizes have to be transferred to the other machines... It may take an hour for the footage itself to transfer if its a reasonably sized project....
