multiple audio files per take?

Thank you, I actually discovered another issue, it's solvable but just inefficient.

Typically, I'm used to getting 1 audio file per take, and that file will included all the audio tracks recorded for that take, so when I drop it in the timeline, all the tracks are connected.

This production sound mixer has been recording each track separately, so for scene 1 take 1, I'll have 4 files:

001Take1 - boom
001Take1 - lav
001Take1 - lav2
001Take1 - lav3

So now I have to select all four files, bring them into the timeline and connect them for each take. Not the end of the world but unless they are using a h4n, I've always received one audio file, with all audio tracks included in it.

When I asked the mixer, he said his mixer/recorder doesn't have the ability to do that?

Did you ask him exactly what his recorder is?
Do the separate files hold up in sync? Is the slate and the mark adequate?

We don't know what NLE you are using either.
If you line up the start of the four files, are they in sync with each other?
If you sync the four files together, can you "join" them into a group and sync the group to the picture?

Likely a multitrack recorder. If they all have the same duration, size, date/time, TC stamp, ect. For example, the Tascam 680 renders in the 'date/mono' file mode as :131029_001_mono1.wav; 131029_001_mono2.wav; mono3.. and so on, which would be the same Scene and Take. Poly files are easier to deal with, which contain all the tracks, but not all NLEs or DAWs can open them. Most pro film sound recorders have file config options.
