Multicam Production Workflow

So I've got Vegas 8 and have been using different versions of Vegas for several years now. I still feel like I'm missing something while using this program, so I thought I would ask the best and brightest of this forum for their opinion on my workflow.

Here’s what I’m doing:

A 4 camera production at church, for a weekly 30 minute television show delivered on Mini-DV. I shoot on a variety of cameras (2 Sony’s, 1 Canon, and 1 JVC 250 w/ Firestore) I of course then ingest my 6 or so hours of tape via a Sony DV deck, and transfer the JVC files from the Firestore. The 2 tracks of audio come from an Edirol recorder. I sync the cameras using audio as I’m not yet using four cameras with timecode for syncing.

Here’s my first question, when is the best time to do color correction? I usually do my syncing, then color correct each track one at a time, isolate each track and render it as a new .AVI file using the NTSC DV .AVI format. I replace the original .AVI with the color corrected one and enable multi-camera editing. Once I’ve got my cuts made, I copy the timeline to a new timeline and, add my wraparounds, open, close etc…

I then render to .AVI the completed show with slate, countdown, etc…I open that .AVI in Premiere as I can’t seem to get my animated lower thirds and bug to show up properly in Vegas. I render that to an .AVI, which goes back into Vegas, and then I burn it to a DV tape.

Anyone find any issues with my workflow, or any suggestions for speeding up my editing?

Thanks so much,

Chuck
