Multicam problem, ever seen this before?

I am having this issue for the first time ever, I edit multiclip every day all day and today it just started happening... when I switch to one of the cameras it glitches out on me, i managed to grab a screenshot of it but it wasn't easy because it doesn't keep doing it when I stop the playback. This is really annoying and srews up my editing every time i switch back to the wide shot...

Any ideas?

Are the properties of the clip changing? Or is it just displaying all screwy in your multiclip viewer? Is it editing into your timeline OK?

Open an old project and see if you are having the same problems...if not, then perhaps it's that specific project/clip that has become corrupted somehow...

It is not affecting the clip properties, just the canvas viewer. I opened another project and can't replicate the problem... I am thinking you are right, it is the one clip. I am finished cutting the sequence now and as i went, it went from bad to better, but still did it once in a while til the end... very odd. I will be starting on my next sequence in a little bit here and I will see how a new multiclip freshly put together looks... I hope it was just a fluke or something :/

I have had this happen sometimes if I have a clip with many changes such as motion, distort and added filters. Same crash problems as well. I started added most of my filters and effects after I was done w/ multiclip sequence.

I am starting to think that may be what it is... I color correct in FCP to the individual clips before I make them a multiclip, this saves a lot of time as having 2 or 3 cameras to color correct sucks when I have to go through and highlight every other or every third clip and then paste attributes from one sample clip to get them all the same. hmmmm, I will have to think about what to do if it happens again....

Are you using the clip unrendered? I agree with you, I do my CC on the whole clip before putting it in the multiclip, but I export it first as new rendered clip, and reimport the new clip.

Yeah, this was a long time ago, what I did in FCP 6 was just CC after... using CMND - F and just searching for the clip name in your sequence will of course let you find all of the clips with that name, I just paste attributes at that point. In FCP 7 I still do the same thing out of habit, but I have tried applying it to a multiclip sequence and it now gives the option to apply the color correction to both cameras, so that should be the fix.

Has anyone had this problem in FCP 7?

Use the find

Use the find

Xtopher,

I used to do the same CC before on all clips but instead of having to highlight each individual clip do this
1: Find one clip and CC
2. Copy that clip
3. Open apple F while in the timeline and this will do a search for all of the clips with the same name (you can also limit the search to in and out points).
4. This should highlight all of the clips that need the same correction, now just paste attributes and select filters,
5. Shower, rinse, repeat.
(I remove attributes first so the one clip I corrected doesn't get it twice before pasting attributes.)

Hope this helps.
