This is my first time using multicam in Premiere. I have an AVCHD angle (AF100) and an HDV angle (Sony V1U). I think I may have converted one of them to ProRes, but that's not really important. Plus an audio recording that was hooked up directly to the sound board output (H4n). The H4n audio is what I'm using for most of it, but then to add in applause or audio from a choir that was (intentionally) not mic'ed, I have to use the audio from one of the other two cameras. This was at a presentation at a college.
The biggest problem is that my 2010 iMac has a hard time handling it all. It will play and I can edit fine, but I can't usually watch it at the actual framerate. It's probably showing me like 15 fps. So it's pretty much impossible to tell if I'm a few frames off sync. I synced manually. And I have the whole thing edited and have selected which audio sources need to be where, for the reasons I mentioned above.
So now I just need to figure out where/ if I'm off, by how much, and to fix it. I have exported some sections to check how far off it is. The whole thing is about two hours.
Assuming I discern how far off it is this way, can I go back into multicamera source sequence (where I originally lined it all up) and nudge, let's say, the clips in the track from the HDV camera backwards by four frames.... and then go into the separate sequence where I am editing it all, using the mulitcam window, and the cuts will align correctly with the changes? Hopefully that makes sense.
Also, I just now bought Plural Eyes 3. I did another event at the same place with the same setup today. I'm hoping that Plural Eyes works well for it. Could I still use it for this project that I have already edited??? I know that you can send a sequence/ XML file from Premiere, into Plural Eyes, then send it back to Premiere. If so, should it be the source sequence, or the one that I'm doing the edits/ camera switching in?
This is more general on Plural Eyes-- the fact that the main audio is being recorded directly from the microphone on stage, whereas the sound on the cameras (for sync) is being picked up from speakers (so slight latency/ echo)-- will that affect it syncing correctly?
Thanks so much to anyone who has tips or advice.
