Multi Camera effect?

Hey, I'm somewhat new to cinematography/filmmaking... I've always wondered how on commercials or movies the effect is created when the "camera" is moving around a scene but everything is either slow motion or paused/still.. would that be something done with two or more cameras or is it more of green screen/post/special effects? I dont even know what i'd search for to get the answer to my question.. so I apologize in advance if this has been asked a million times before

Many times, people are just holding really still and there is some effect that 'sells' the moment... like a propped up chair that looks like it is falling over.


However, sometimes, you can sync dozens of photography cameras together to get an array of photo's. Basically, travelling through space in 'one moment'... played back in sequence it is like camera movement but in only one moment of time.
