MTV and VH1 aspect ratio

didnt exactly know where to ask this, so i took the safe road and posted it in here.

im editing a commercial that is supposed to air on mtv and vh1, what aspect ratio should i edit it in?

it was shot in 16:9

you will have to deliver a 4:3 master. not sure if you have to center extract or if you can deliver a letterboxed commercial.
