All of the Sony's, and the JVC, now licensing Sony's protocol, use MPEG-2, often in HDV guise. At least some record to solid state memory.
The HMC150 is a 25Mb/s MPEG4. Most consumer camcorders are now AVCHD, with bandwidths from 11 to 25Mb/s. Its images seem comparable to the 40/100Mb/s DVCProHD. The Canon 5DM2, which has outstanding images, is a 40Mb/s MPEG4.
Is Sony planning for professional MPEG4? Is something else at food?
