mpeg2-DVD & memory problems

I would like to ask for a little help. When I render my film in Premiere in mpeg2-DVD format everything is saved in the RAM or into the computer's virtual memory, and when it is full I get a message: (something like this) "Hey, you are out of memory! try again :) !" which is a bit annoying after 5 hour rendering. Could you advise me some tips to avoid this?

You can get a computer that's twice as fast. That way you'll get the error message after only 2.5 hours ;)

Seriously, if your computer says you're running out of memory, then you should consider getting more memory. How much ram and disk space do you have anyway? And how long is your video? Also, consider using Encore DVD to do the transcoding. It's a lot faster than Premiere.

it is 3 GHZ!
I have 1GB Ram+1534MB Virtual RAM, but this is going to be determined by the computer.

1GB should be ok for most things. How big is your hard drive, and how long is your video? You should also turn off other applications which are running in the background.

Surf, is your computer have hyper thread technology?

My computer was giving me the same problems. So i had to download a few things to get premiere to work properly with your computer.

This sounds like something unrelated to your computer's basic setup, which is more than enough to render/transcode an hour or 2 of video. By comparison, I regularly transcode up 90 minutes of 24PA into MPEG2 from PP 1.5 using my Dell Laptop - which only runs a P4 2ghz CPU and only 640 MB of RAM, and it takes only a little over 2 hours. Does your footage have a lot of visual effects? If so, you might try rendering in sections by adjusting the work area bar and hittting the enter key, then, when the whole piece is rendered, export as MPEG2 using the Adobe Media Encoder in Premier Pro.

Also, make sure that there are no other programs running along with Premier. You also should minimize the amount of background programs which are running (all those little icons in the lower left corner of the screen use memory and resources). It sounds like you may even have some sort of conflict with another program (perhaps running in the background) which is competing for the same memory and resources as Premiere Pro.

All the best,

Michael

One more thing I thought of... Are you running Premiere Pro 1.5? I seem to remember have a very similar problem before I upgraded to 1.5

All the best,

Michael

Yeah, go to that adobe site... I had the same problem...
just download that patch or whatever it is... it fixes the problem.

How do you like them apples Weismangroup?!?!?

well, I have installed it and the Win Update too, but it still writes the frames into the Ram. although I didn't wait until it gets full, but I don't know whether it is normal or not?

Putting the downloads to the test again! I recently bought a P4 3.8ghz HT comp with 2 gigs of ram and 500 gigs of HD space and it was giving me the same error...

So i just downloaded the mods to the program...hopefully it'll work...

I got this one..... happened to me.... it's none of the above..

go to the adobe website... there is a download that fixes this problem.

Has nothing to do with your computer.
