..if you purchased a retail version, it comes with the advanced windows media encoder for export.. which will output WM version 8 in P6.5 . if it did not install when you originally installed, you can install it off the install CD.
Thanks IAL, - iamideiot - I found it in the "save-for-web" menu.
Many of the screen crabs posted on this site look really good, how do they get such good quality? I have tested all of the WM version 8 settings and the quality isn't nearly as good.
screen grabs are usually taken directly fro the timeline by the "file->export-> frame " command and are saved as full res uncompressed .tif files, and then converted to .jpg format using photoshop or another image app to optimize it for web viewing. WM8 is for motion video, and will look good since it is usually exported at a smaller pixel dimension pending the data rate.
Sorry, I knew that - I guess I didn't ask the question correctly. I exported directly from the timeline to make the .wmv and couldn't get nearly the quality as "The Waters Edge - disjecta," for example.
oh, try using a higher bitrate, you can also lower your FPS down to 15 if you need to keep the file smaller. you may need to create your own custom setup for WM8 export instead of going with a preset one to get the best results. I would also assume that he used WM9 which is superior to WM ver. 8 though.
That's probably a good assumption - Can WM9 be downloaded and used as a plugin with P6.5 the way WM8 is? If so where do I get it? I'll check Adobe's website.
I exported my Premiere timeline as an AVI and then I imported into Sorenson Squeeze (a great program, btw). I chose the progressive Quicktime preset, changed the size and used a 2:35 crop (also available in Sorenson). The resulting file took about 10 minutes to render and is of excellent quality.
Sorenson Squeeze is the only way to go if you want to get great quality, low-meg files.
