MPEG-2 output.

When I render-as MPEG-2, and go to the Audio section, and under Audio mode, it says Stereo. Will my audio still be outputted wih surround 5.1.

Instead of choosing MPEG, choose AC-3.

If you're going to make a DVD and have 5.1 surround, you have encode the video and the audio separately and mate them in your authoring program.

If you're using DVD Architect, and you use the same file name (and save them to the same folder), it will be done automatically.

:):dankk2:OK, great. thanks!

Now, when I output my MPEG2 video, I should just uncheck the Audio box, so no audio is ouptutted with it, right?

Are you using DVD Architect? Use the DVD Architect templates. Everything is pre-configured properly for you.

OK, thanks again.

Now, hopefully my last question, after I output my video to MPEG2 (in 24p), and my Audio in AC3, will they sync properly in Architect? Or is this something a template can help with?

And how do I access these wonderful-sounding templates. (Sorry, I have the PDF manual for Vegas and Architect, but I lost my PDF viewer cause of the recent virus)

What you need to do is create a loop which covers everything you want to render, then make sure you choose "render loop section only" in the render box. Use the same loop for both, and sync is automatic.

You find the DVD Architect templates in the "Templates" drop-down in the render box, after you've chosen MPEG-2 as your format.

OK, David. I made the DVD in Architect. I tried burning it, but it never completed the Lead-Out, and after 11 minutes or so, it timed-out and ended. What could be wrong?

Most often, it means you're using a DVD that your burner doesn't particularly care for. I have a Pioneer DL burner which simply won't burn to DVD+Rs (though it says it can); it does that exact thing.

You can try updating your burner's firmware.

Bingo. Pioneer, using DVD+R. Now I search for the update.

Should I close all my other programs? I know I should, but I am willing to wait the extra time. Will it affect the actual quality, or the lead-out problem?

No, it won't affect it. It's between the burner and the disc.

I updated my firmware not long ago (~1-2 weeks), but I haven't tried to burn a +R, so I don't know if it'll help.

By updating firmware, do you mean like a driver, or a new burner? If so, how?

I hope I am not wasting your time. Im just a little exstatic because this is the one forum where I get good, helpful help from smart people.

Im going to try. Its not the right DVD burner, but close enough. If anything bad happens, Ill just do a rollback on the driver.

It may have been because the DVD was an 1x/2.4x/4x/8x speeds, but I was burning at 12x. More info to come.

I didnt take that into consideration. Its strange- Pioneer has a ton of DVD Writers, but not my model #.
