MPEG-2 Compression Setting in DVDA?

I just converted an avi file to MPEG-2 for a dvd. I used vbr, with max bitrate of 8Mbs, avg 6Mbs, and min of 192,000bps. This is the default NTSC setting in DVDA. However, my file is too large for a single dvd (5GB), and I have to get it all on a single dvd. Can anyone give me some suggested settings to maximize quality, but still get this file compressed to an MPEG-2 that will fit on a single 4.7GB dvd? I'm sure whether to just reduce the average bps, or all three, or some other combination. Thanks.

Honestly, your best bet would most likely be to just drop the .avi file into DVDA and hit "optimize" under the burn menu and it will auto-calculate for you.

Thanks, I will give it a try. Do you know if there is a vary obvious degradation in video quality if you render to MPEG-2 and drop from say an average of 6Mbps to 4Mbps where the video does not have a lot of motion associated with it?
