MP4 Streaming/packet size questions

One pane in the export window that I have never really know what it does, is the streaming pane. How does the packet size influence the streaming on our website? Our player uses RTMP and the Quicktime help says to tick the "Enable Streaming" box if you use RTSP streaming. The default is seen below in the picture, but I am wondering if making the packets smaller would help with buffering for people with slower lines.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I don't think this is a FCP question...

Packet size may affect how well the server can serve out the packets, how well the transport path deals with various sized packets, etc. So, other than accepting the defaults, one would try different sized packets and see how they play on the Internet at large.

For people with slow, noisy lines, smaller packets may allow for more to arrive correctly, whereas a large packet, if damaged, will require that the packet be dumped, and a loss of the underlying transport stream packets, say for MPeg2 are 188 byte chunks. This will adversely affect the player in receiving the packets and being able to sync up again...

This has come up where I work...does anyone know anything about it? I can't find any information out there.

I've tried it both ways, and it does make the file size smaller but other than that, I can't tell any difference. And I have no idea what it really means either.
