Moza Slypod Pro Remote - firmware issues?

I'm using a Moza Slypod Pro for motion - it's doing very well & producing great results, very much like the product videos show.
The 'Moza Master App (IOS/Android)' for wireless BT movement, control etc functions well enough also. However I try to avoid apps as much as possible, preferring something tactile and often more reliable if not always as feature-packed as the Apps (which I return to if I really need those features).
Only very basic functions available from the control buttons on the Slypod Pro itself - good but very basic.

I now have the Slypod Remote - which was about as easy to obtain as hens teeth but eventually one turned up new on Ebay - and it functions well in most regards, cute too!.
However the Remote is supplied with older (original?) 1.6.3 firmware and as such certain features do not address the Slypod Pro's extension range of 520mm - it only addresses the previous original Slypod models range of 280mm. So a firmware upgrade to the latest edition is in order.

The 'Moza Master App v1.4 for PC' (or Mac) is the way to update the Remote firmware to the most recent version.
The Remote is put into 'BOOT MODE' and USB connected to the PC.
The Master App boots swiftly when asked (Moza USB drivers (previously installed) load ok) and the display on the Remote reads 'CONNECTED' when the item is selected in the App.
All good.

It is seen by the App and the option to 'Upgrade' is selected - an activity graphic spins nicely for a second or two - then 'The Request Failed' is displayed bt the App.
I have tried all combinations of which device boots/connects first etc - no joy.
Moza Support are non existent other than confirming that I have asked them for Support....

No info or similar reports on the web despite extensive efforts

Possibly significant - the App identifies & connects with the remote reliably however it reports the current firmware as v1.0.0 whereas it is actually v1.6.3.

Any help would be most appreciated.
