Moving to Springfield, MO

I'm buying a farm and turning the barn into a studio over the course of the next year.

Just wanted to know anyone is out there. Tulsa is not a bad drive it'd be like going to LA but I'd be moving instead of sitting.

Branson can throw you some video work...lots of tourism stuff. Springfield is less than an hour way from Branson.

Plus there are 7 colleges/universities there, that could be good business.

Still a very tough market. I come from St. Louis, and I thought THAT was a tough market.

Yeah, been to Branson. Might also try and get in touch with my cousin's son. Haven't seen him in years he used to play for Alan Jackson. Now has his own country band if they're still around called McHayes. See if I can get some music video work between doing features.

I live in Kansas City, about 3 hours away, I would love to come down and help you on weekends once in a while. I should have a dvx-100a within a week or so.

Cool, Brandon, I'll be back around the 30th and I'll need some time to settle in. Moving is a pain. It'll be easy if you didn't collect things. So I'll let you know when I get back. I'll leave sunny California on the 25th I think.

Thought I post again... forgot my password... so been posting under this title...

Hopefully I'll be returning to Springfield soon... was wondering if anyone is close to the area...

Trying to get my own feature off the ground again... came back to California to sell my house and been stuck here working... did two spots for Unviersal... one was shot on the DVX... it was for the dvd release of American Pie presents Band Camp... and then we did another spot for the 40 Year Old Virgin... and now I'm finishing up my line producing role on a feature film...

We shot with the Cine Alta for 95% of the shoot... then the footage inside the jet fighter planes and footage from Cancun was shot with the JVC... and then behind the sceens and the camcorder footage from the actors was shot with my DVX...

The film is Succbus: Hell Bent...

Doing some re-shoots next week... have to take the leading lady up again in the jet... someone turned down the iris on the camera and her footage is too dark to fix... if we get a film out...

The JVC and DVX really uprezzed well to HDCAM... wanted all the footage to be the same format when we go into the online editing part of the film...

I guess I should make this long piece short... again... looking for people who have the skills to work on a feature and our from that area... or nearby... Tulsa is nearbye to me... takes me the same amount of time to get there as it does LA from my Orange County home...

Thanks in advance... Gary

Forgot to add.. there is a chance that I might shoot in upstate New York... a DP friend there is teaming up with a guy who owns a Cine Alta and has an online HD bay... so that would be his investment in the film... so if that works out... who knows it might be my third feature shot up in the Rochester area...

I'm still here ... and still amassing equipment, so let me know when you get back. North Carolina is looking farther and farther away for us, so we'll likely be in the area for a while still. And I've got plenty of connections for crew.

Kris, glad you're still in Springfield... can't wait to get back myself...

It seems more crowded here than when I left... I also posted to your question about he MFAS... you might want to check that out...

Hopefully see you in May....
