Moving to LA

What are the best areas? I've been there and checked it out, but now am looking at places online that I have yet to visit. Specifically does anybody have any feedback on Van Nuys. My budget is about 1150 for a 1 bedroom. Thanks.

Silverlake

Santa Monica

Venice

Mid Wilshire

are all areas I'd recommend. Maybe North Hollywood and Studio City are worth looking at, too.

Although I'm not sure $1150/month will get you a 1-bedroom. More likely a studio.

There are okay parts of Van Nuys. Closer to Ventura Boulevard will generally be better.

I'm in North Hollywood. I'm in a "bachelor" apartment which runs me less than 800 a month.

The downside is I don't have a full kitchen...

If you get a rent a room in a 2 bedroom apt - I think you'd have a pretty nice pad for $1150. A pool, gym, etc. I think that's a good way to go - hopefully you luck out on a cool roommate.

you don't have a full kitchen? what do you have? my house payment isn't even 800 a month.

And that's why Georgia rocks so hard. I lived in Kennesaw, 4Bdroom that's as big as a house, nice CLEAN area and the total rent was 1200 a month.

My two bedroom here on the edge of Santa Monica is 1750 a month.

Try Mar Vista area.

I have a 1/2 sized fridge. I cook food in my microwave or on my George Forman grill and a 2 range hot plate. It's fine, really. The only bad part is I have to wash dishes in the bathroom sink.

But hey, 800 a month for an apt in LA (without roommates) is pretty friggin' cheap...

But it's SO nice not having a roomate... and paying less than 800 a month. If I want a gym, I'll go join one. :)

That's True! That's why I said that hopefully he'll luck out and get a "cool roommate". ha,ha.
Shoot - I wish i could afford $1150 a month. I'm paying $900 for a room in a three bedroom house in Westchester.

Oh, I'm about two blocks from Loyola Marymount and Otis College. i guess that's sorta borderline LA/Westchester.

Hmmm....about the planes...I see planes fly in and out when I drive to work at El Segundo (down Lincoln/Sepulveda)...but my work hours are SO long that I never really paid attention to it.

It's not bad from where I am.

I have a nice clean one bedroom near pico and lincoln for 1200 all utilities included. You just need a little bit of luck and spend some time searching....
