Moving to Connecticut...

Yes, you read that correctly. I'm off to the state of Connecticut. Mrs. Snow got a job there that pays better than mine here, plus it has much better long term potential, and away we go.

So, anyone know anyone there? I'll basically be between Hartford and New Haven, and only know a few in-laws in the area. No one else. Be happy to hook up with any DVX people in the New England area.

Also, I don't need work, at least not right away, but at some point will be looking, so connections to anyone about anything sure can't help.

Unfortunately I moved away from there over ten years ago. Wish I could help you. All my contacts are probably outdated by now. I got an older brother/musician living 2o minutes away in Springfield, Massachusetts. But he might not be much help when it comes to video.

EDIT: If you are into boxing you should hook up with my buddy "ICEMAN John Scully" whos fighter Chad Dawson retained the WBC Light Heavyweight Championship on HBO a couple weeks back.

Used to live in CT, but don't have any video contacts there.

If you're looking for good pizza though, I personally recommend Famous Pizza in Bethel, CT, though most aficionados recommend the pizza in New Haven (or apizza as it called there) at Sally's or Pepe's.

CT... that's where all the rich people live...right?

Yes, Deepfocus is in CT, he's a great guy and I'm sure he can offer some insite. Congrats on the move!

I know Deepfocus from this board. Cool!

I know enough about CT to get around, and am not looking for immediate paid work. Just wanting to make connections, get the lay of the land, etc.

I live in Sagamore (Capecod) about 2.5 hrs away. The good news is your a hop skip and jump away from NYC. But hey, your always welcome to take a day trip down to my neck of the woods. Just Pm me anytime. I shoot with a few other users from the board here. (BEN TOTMAN) HE'S a cool cat.

That's great to hear. Will PM you, and Ben, at some point when I come up from air from packing and cleaning!

Just wanted to post that I have officially landed in CT. Been here a few weeks actually. So far, so good.

Hi Mr Leopard & welcome to the Nutmeg State. (you really went through with it, didn't you?)

Apologies, I'm just reading this now…I was down outside of DC on a gig.

I live in Norwalk, which isn't terribly far from the NY border. The nice thing about CT is proximity to NYC and a lot of different states for work. (And you can live in house with a white picket fence, 2.5 kids and a dog in the yard)

New Haven has all those great pizza joints, plus a whole bunch of other various restaurants. When you decide to look for some work or contacts, feel free to PM me.

CT is cool. Half the time I'm scheming to move somewhere else, but at the end of the day, it's a nice place to be. I'll be curious what you think about it coming from Portland.

I'm from Oregon, and will forever be an Oregonian, it is I believe the most beautiful state in the US. My reasons for leaving are simple, and complicated. On the simple side, my better half got a better paying career job doing science based work for the NRCS. The topside of this job, in years to come, is double the most money I have ever made in my life. Most of her family is also in CT, so that gives us somewhat of a support system. Also, she had been looking for similar jobs, but most of the openings were in places like North Dakota, Oklahoma, Kansas... Not the worst places on earth, but unappealing to us.

It also leaves me the ability to flex. While I can't sit around and do nothing, I can freelance and pick up whatever work I can, hopefully some sort of commercial production, because there's no way on God's Green Earth I'm going back to ENG or local television. I'm currently in the FITP program at Quinnipiac, which is aimed mostly at people younger than me, but it seems to be pretty cool so far, and a great way to make connections. So hopefully I can find some sort of work from it.
