moving MXF/quicktimes from FCP to PC based Premiere.

I have a 2ghz macbook, and we all know now that it can run FCP fairly well. I was wondering If we use the macbook as our offload drive on set, when you import the mxf into finalcut does it create a quicktime?

...If so can I put those quicktimes on a fat32 formatted firewire drive and import them into the pc for aftereffects and some cutting in premiere?

thanks,

Yes and no.

Yes, when you import the file it creates quicktimes.

But no, as of right now (QT 7.1), DVCPRO-HD quicktimes are not supported on the PC platform. Unless you have EDIUS Broadcast installed; if you have EDIUS, then it adds a codec that lets you play DVCPRO-HD quicktimes.

Someday hopefully Apple will add DVCPRO-HD to the PC version of QT, and then the workflow you suggest will work completely.
