Moving individual clips from sequence to sequence.

Copy paste gets funky if you've got multiple layers and you try to pinpoint exactly where you want the paste to actually paste to! I suggest loading it into the viewer directly from the sequence and then switching sequences and using your F-keys to drop it where you want.... but then again, that only works for single clips.

Copy paste is best. Figure it out.

Hey Capt.Mench. Speaking of things getting funky. I have a wedding with several nested sequences and somewhere along the way fcp stopped updating the later sequences when I went back and made changes to earlier ones. It was working great and I can't figure out what happend. Any Ideas?

Nests generally work well for me, but I usually don't composite them too much. I'd guess that what's happening is you've had to render a nested sequence due to some compositing of other things ontop. This creates a render file instead of a reference file (as the nest does) and therefore now you are playing off the render which WON'T update.

Best bet is to trash your renderfiles (use render manager in the tool pulldown) and render it again.

Again, not sure if that's really the answer, but I've actually gotten in the habit now of trashing render files if I've been working long on a project with many layers and files. Not sure if it's good business... but it seems to make things play smoother. Better to have a few render files than a zillion as sometimes I'll get.

There's another way I stumbled upon to fit one sequence to another while keeping both as clips. Open up each sequence as tabs and then drag the one tab up of the first sequence. Below you will see the timeline for the other tab also. Then just select your whole sequence and drag it up to the sequence above as an overwrite edit at the end of it. Presto one sequence onto another as individual clips. Then you close the old sequence tab and drag the new sequence down to where it should be and continue on.
