Apparently not. Our new governor is pulling back and limiting incentives to 25 million a year. Picking and choosing which productions get the tax cuts based on how much that production may benefit our economy. Just when we were about to get going. That said, a lot of people are up in arms trying to get the government to change its mind about the incentives. In fact jut last week I was in a local lighting and grip rental shop talking to one of the people there and they were pretty devastated about the whole thing. They lost the Avengers movie to Ohio. This Wednesday I plan to attend a rally to keep the incentives in one form or another.

I think a lot of us here understand the governors point of view. Without the incentives we wouldn't be seeing the amount of production we have in the last few years. Hollywood is certainly fickle and will go wherever they get the best deal. But all of these productions have been a ray of hope for an otherwise diminishing economy. If our government would have just held out for another 5-7 years we could have at least built the infrastructure and trained the personel to make this a true production hub. The Hollywood of the midwest we've been coined as. There we at least three studios planned for construction in the metro Detroit area. One of which was scheduled to open early this year.

All hope is not lost yet. Nothing has been signed into law yet. Lets hope our new governor see's the error of his ways.
