Has anyone actually seen this thing or is it just a pipe dream. They've been promising to release the unit for over a year now and still no sign of it on the market!

Perhaps it's a tube dream.

I have seen nothing new about it.

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

I have the promo DVD I was not super impressed with it. I really think the thing redrock is rocking is going to be the way to go. Hell it is almost resolution lossless. I have yet to see the new GG's but the could possibly make a full resolution system. I recommend giving it a look, and for the price (500 I believe for a prebuilt); that is some bang for your buck for sure.

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

It looks like Redrocks loosing about 100 lines of res from his test charts. Not bad especially considering the price point!

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

The new GG's might reslove a bit more resolution than the last time around I am interested to see how it all goes. I think it could get close enough to give you a suitable film out

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

With sharpening it looks like less resolution loss than is first apparent, but yeah...100 lines sounds right (and acceptable but not for film-out.)

The corners look pretty awful, though, to be honest. I'm still probably going to buy one, though.

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

Yeah, 260lines is not ideal for a film out, but hell that is about the resolution they ended up with on 28 days later.  But yeah, i wouldn't want to project that footage too large, but for the small screen it should look pretty good.

Re: MOVIE TUBE......AGAIN

Yeah, if you count the 100 lines of resolution loss on top of the letterbox, you are working with about 260 lines of resolution, at least if you compared it on res charts.
