Movie Scripts Stolen!!!!!

Okay... so there is someone banging on my door a 330 AM. I look out of my window and there is MD State Trooper looking in my ride. I go outside to find a Giant Rock sitting in the front seat of my Benz. Grrrrreeeaaattt! We live in a queit neighborhood and I would never think that someone would do something like this. I had a Binder that took me a year to build up and some spineless a$$hole took it because it was in a Laptop Bag. All of my scripts were in there. Luckily I have backups, but what I didn't have back ups for was all of the DVXUser thread print outs that I had. That thing was my bible. Every time I had a problem I would come here, Get the answer, Print it and put it in that binder. This sucks big time. Damn the car window, I have State Farm for that, I'm pissed that my binder is gone. I wish I would have seen those Fu**ers, They would have had a serious problem on thier hands. :crybaby:
I just came back from a shoot and took all of my equipment in the house a few hours earlier. Thank god.

The perfect end to a horrible month.

Man, Hollywood really is desperate for new ideas! I'm really sorry to hear about the break in, that stuff always sucks. I have one work that might help you in the future though= Garage.

damn man. i've read of few of your posts lately. sorry life's been such a ***** lately. at the risk of sounding like an ass, at least you have some real life experiences to write about. just use it bro. that's what i try to do. plus it's an outlet to vent.

i hope things take a turn for the better soon.

I know its not much help, hope things start getting better for you.

If you do decied to slowly rebuild your binder again, this time it might be worth (when you hit the print button) that you also use a free PDF maker, basically it installs like a virtual printer. And when you send anything off to this "printer" you end up with a PDF file, this way you will have your paper copy as well as a nice electronic copy, from which you could reprint if you so wished:

just two more extra clicks during printing will save you in the long run,

all the best man.

That's lame. I loathe people who steal. For some perspective, try looking the guy in the eye as he boosts about $18k of equipment from you. That happened to me.

Had I known the guys then that I know today... well, it might have ended differently.

The Benz is bullet-proof, but leaving a laptop attache in your car is like rolling out the welcome mat for bad men. Sorry.

On a similar note: I thought I got a new laptop last night. Turns out now I just have a silly TwilightFest script to sell. Any takers?

(Sorry to hear about the loss. More so for your window then for the DVXUser printouts.)

Also I'd like to add, I know the feeling we had our family Merc busted into twice within the same 24hr period, the police told us to wait and see if they return the third time before asumming it was the same guy!

Yea I hate that horrible feeling at the bottom of your gut that you get when stuff gets stolen/damaged.

Yeah, it does suck. Last week I picked up a Mac Pro, but the box was so big I had to put it in the back seat of my car (Lexus IS). I parked the car, went back into the mall for a few minutes...came back out, found my window smashed. They tried to take the computer, but I guess the alarm went off or the box was too big to get out. They left my iPod and GPS, so I assume the alarm scared them off.

Anhar, nice tip on the pdf files.

Filthrich, if you can remember the topics you printed, please post them and I'm sure a lot of us would help with the search.

Argh. That is infuriating! Gotta protect your stuff; nothing's guaranteed though.

I have a friend who recently had his laptop bag stolen (with his laptop and other stuff in it). He was riding the subway and had his bag sitting on the seat next to him. It was late at night and he was kinda tired. He said that a suspicious looking black man entered the train at one point. My friend, a white guy, said he didn't want to grab on to his bag and appear prejudiced against a black person so he just left his bag unguarded in that same spot. He wasn't holding it or anything like that. So my friend starts to doze off a bit when he suddenly wakes up to see that guy running off the train with HIS BAG as the train doors close behind him! It was too late!

My friend kept his life in that bag - he also kept irreplaceable items in there, like years of journal entries and family heirlooms. Why? Because he didn't think it was safe in his apartment. So I told him, "Dude, that sucks but you gotta protect your stuff better! It doesn't matter if someone is black or white. You gotta be smarter about that sort of thing."

He never got the bag back or saw the thief again. He has been horribly depressed about it for nearly a month now.

Where EXACTLY do you live? :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

Anhar I will be doing the PDF thing from now on. That was the ONLY time I have ever left that bag on the seat. But I just got an Email from a woman who found it on the side of the road! I did print "If found please contact..." on the inside of the binder. I am very happy. And Yes, This has been one of the worst months I have had in LOooooong time. I need to go the the gun range TODAY! Fire off some rounds.
The funny thing is, when we lived in the hood my cars or my Motorcycle were never touched and I had Everything in my Magnum and tricked out GSXR1000. I move to the Burbs, not a Junkie in sight and they bust my very expensive window for a bag. Leaving it there was just stupid. Live and learn. Turns out they even broke into a cop car and took the police radio. about 10 cars in the neighborhood got hit. But mine was the only one with damage.

Yea that was a wise move labelling the contact detail.

I had my wallet returned after a week once, with all the money intact! goes to show there are good people out there.

I think, possibly the areas that have more "value" are bigger tagets for criminal, I mean no one bothers stealing something that has no precieved value.

One of the things I use to do back in the days was carry my laptop in bust up crappy side bag along with my books, probably 95% people didn't have a clue that I was carrying it, at the SAME time my friend got robbed of his laptop at least twice! but then again MOST people were actually carrying laptops in there...."laptop bags" thats just advertising to criminals you have something of value.

So probably best to drive around in the most bust up car you can find (when you have expensive gear with you)...

just my 2 pennies

I really miss my 88 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. They would not have even looked in there.

please tell me it looked like this:

sweeeeeet.

See? Some good news (someone posting they found the bag)...

Like someone said, all these bad things are experiences you can use in your future films. Use them to make them worth!

I'm all for average looking cars- that's untill I make it big (millions- no, make it billions- BIG) Then I could afford being robbed in my Murciellago, or Bugatti... :)
