Movie Magic Schedulling Alternatives?

[Guillermo Ferrón]

Hello filmmakers.
I´m a spanish assistant director and i´m looking for alternatives to Movie Magic Scheduling. Movie Magic it´s better than work with WORD or EXCEL documents (as many production teams are still doing) but I think that it´s an ugly program and also it´s have a lot of bugs. So, do you know any alternative program for scheduling? Thanks, and sorry for my english.

Why did you post this in the cinematography section?

[J.D.]

I use a program called guerilla , it is for indy film producers, very helpful for scheduling a budgeting. It imports script breakdowns, can track multiple projects, etc

Try the Axium International site. It went bankrupt but the site is still up. They have an excellent Scheduling and Budgeting software. Download the trial version - it's good and won't crap out on you.

There was/is a user here who was advertising a piece of film budgeting software they'd designed in their signature...Can't remember any names though....Ring any bells for anyone?

I think this:

http://www.entertainmentpartners.com/products_and_services/products/ep_scheduling/learnmore/

is a updated version of Movie Magic. It looks quite a lot better.

Also there is Celtx, which is free, but not quite as good.

I just found Movie Magic screen writer for $125 and Gorilla Pro for $198 (until Jan 31) which is the best deal I've seen. You can check it out at

I highly recommend Gorilla from Jungle Software. I've been using it for several years and it does a great job.

I just bought this Gorilla thing and you're a flaming so and so, kidding, yes - it looks good, but does anyone have a DVD tutorial lying around? the $70 for the tutorial is beyond my limit.

Look into scenecrhonize.com. It's free and seems pretty good...Haven't used movie magic scheduler though so I have nothing to compare it to.

I already bought Gorilla, just seeing if anyone has the tutorial DVD lying about.

Guillermo,

I would give Setkick a try - http://www.setkick.com
They are cloud based, and iPad based - and also offering 14 day free trials.

movie magic alternative

hey Guillermo,
I think PMP https://www.productionminds.com/features/pmp also could be an alternative, it's cloud-based, not so expensive (free trial) and doesn't have the "bugs" of movie magic but has a lot of other useful functions for pre-production..
