Move to the US?

Anyone done it from abroad? Been thinking I need to move from where I am (many reasons, nothing untoward, Im just living in a location with a small market). Possibilites in Australia of course, then I can always go back to Tokyo, but the US, if it were an option, would be high on my list.
 
Yeah, bring it!!!! But if one reason is the size of the market, you're going to be choosing from only a few cities here. If you are using Tokyo as your other option, then really just two comparable cities: New York, LA. And since I think that kind of work sucks balls in NYC, then just LA, really. But doesn't LA send a lot of production to Aus? So yeah, maybe stay put...

Seriously though, I should state my market presently, big industrials, promos, tvcm mainly. I have shot on some larger budget documentaries and TV series (doco style). These were my bread and butter. And where I live right now - wrong place. We do get large productions such as Narnia recently and they are shooting the TV series Terra Nova around the corner - but thats not where I can survive right now.

I should also say that were I am currently, people rarely care about quality as long as your dirt cheap your set. In fact most of the people I know work for pennies and I simply refuse to.
